Last time, we touched on the difference between motivation and self-discipline, and how finding clarity on what you really want in life will help you become more disciplined. Today I want to explore the topics of mindset and personal philosophy as they relate not only to business but to every other facet of life. For example, I’ve often heard that the highest level of adult maturity is characterized by an ability to take accountability for your actions, and I fully agree with that; some folks may have been dealt a bad hand in life, but we all still have choices to make. Accountability is just one of six characteristics that comprise my list of essentials for a successful personal philosophy.
Cited below for your convenience are timestamps that will direct you to various points in the video. Feel free to watch the full message or use these timestamps to skip to topics that interest you most:
0:47 — No. 1: Accountability
2:00 — No. 2: A willingness to outwork everyone else (aka flexing your “hustle muscle”)
2:52 — No. 3: A willingness to fail in order to succeed
4:15 — No. 4: Healthiness
5:39 — No. 5: The strength to be positive when negativity seems easy
7:06 — No. 6: Self-discipline
Perhaps these six characteristics are things you heard before but didn’t quite know how to attain for yourself. If you have questions about what it takes to foster a positive, productive mindset that will help you reach your goals, I’d love to hear from you. In the meantime, stay tuned for our next video, in which we’ll be doing some mythbusting!
